Change The World. Now!

I have supported Barack Obama's campaign for over one year now.
Back then I was convinced that either Clinton or Gore would have to carry him on the ticket as Vice President.
By November, I convinced myself (against all common sense) that he could win the nomination. I just didn't know the logistics of how.
By December, I was hopeful that he'd squeak out a win either Iowa or New Hampshire. Then hang around and see what happens.
By New Year's, I was cautiously optimistic, actively donating, actively phone banking and actively canvassing in New Jersey. Hoping that there really was a "new" majority out there, somewhere.
Then WE won Iowa. Then WE won South Carolina, Then WE won more delegates and more states on February 5th than any other candidate. Then WE won Maine, Virginia, Louisiana, Nebraska, Maryland, Washington, Wisconsin (by a lot) The country was screaming for change at the top of their lungs. Screaming for their voices to finally be heard.
But when you are a black man and your name is Barack Hussein Obama and you are running against the establishment of the establishment, you don't get anything for free. You can't take anything for granted. You can't count on anything for sure. In fact, you're not even entitled to better media than the losing candidate, even though you are clearly winning the campaign. And you are not entitled to more than a handful of establishment Democrats supporting you. You have to prove yourself ten fold. You cannot hope that someone else walks away from 35 years of presidential ambitions even though they've already lived in the White House for 8 of those years. You have to compel them to stop competing.
After all that WE have accomplished. WE have nothing tangible to show: the lobbyists still run Washington, the political dialog is still fixated around fear mongering, the establishment is still the establishment. We haven't crashed any gates, anywhere.
But we have a chance to in two days Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island: this is the end game. Yes WE Can put it away. It's attainable today. But there is still work to be done - the polls are VERY close. Opportunities like this are rare and precious. And today we are living in that precious moment.
If you can canvass in one of these states, take off from work the next two days and do it. END THIS.
If you can phone bank anytime from anywhere. Do it. END THIS.
End this primary election now.

Change the world, my friends.

Change The World.
