Pennsylvania Voter Registration Deadline - 2 Weeks!

Pennsylvania votes on April 22nd. But Pennsylvania will be won in the next two weeks. Because Pennsylvania's primary is closed to registered Democrats only.  This is likely a disadvantage for Barack Obama as he performs better in races in which Independents can vote.

Here's the good news: Independents (and Republicans) can vote in the Pennsylvania primary - if they change party affiliation to Democrat by March 24th

There is no in sense waiting until April to campaign in Pennsylvania if our people cannot vote on election day. So...

This diary is intended to be a call to action for Obama supporters (I hear there are some of them around here...). Please rec this diary up because this is critical information for actually winning Pennsylvania - and Obama CAN WIN Pennsylvania. More on that in a few seconds.

The great thing about Pennsylvania is that you can get there easily - you live in NJ? Get to Philadelphia or to Bucks County or to Allentown or to King of Prussia NOW.  You live in southern New York State - get to Pennsylvania and start registering voters NOW. Ohio, West Va, Deleware, Maryland - Obama needs this state and he needs you registering eligible voters before March 24th.

Top 3 reasons why Barack Obama can win Pennsylvania:

1. There are basically more colleges in Pennsylvania than there are people. From the gargantuan Penn State, to Villanova, Lehigh, Pitt, Temple, Drexel and Lafayette, to the hundreds of small schools scattered about like Franklin & Marshall, Swarthmore, Susquehanna, Gettysburg, Haverford and Widener. Let's get these students registered to participate.

2. As per the NY Times today. Pennsylvania is not Ohio. Pennsylvania's economy is in good shape, especially around Philadelphia.

3. Double digit African American electorate. (note sure exact %).

Obama will have 45 days to campaign there. And he'll kick ass as usual but it's all for nothing if the independents and young people are not able to stand for change on election day.
