Confront John McCain at Upcoming Town Halls

Sun May 25, 2008 at 11:24:28 AM PDT

I have many concerns about a McCain Presidency and since it is a real possibility that he will be our next President I think we should confront him directly on the important issues in this election.

My concerns are the usual: I think he's too hawkish on the war. I think he should be held accountable for his vote to authorize the war. I think he has a tendency to get upset when asked difficult questions. I think he's not smart enough (as he graduated 5th from last in his class of 899 at the naval academy). I think he's a touch too old. I think he's too prone to changing his mind on important issues when it is politically necessary and I think he lied to Tim Russert during a debate when Russert asked him why he admitted to not being knowledgeable on the economy.

As a concerned citizen, I'd like to have my concerns addressed.

So how can we do this?  Luckily John McCain is touring the country trying to fund his campaign and he's doing some town hall meetings as well.  Here's the list of town halls in the coming weeks:

5/28 - Reno, Nevada

5/29 - Greendale, Wisconsin

6/2 - Nashville, Tennessee

6/3 - Kenner, Louisiana (rally)

6/4 - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

6/13 - Bordentown, New Jersey (YES! 20 miles from me! jackpot)

I'm not here to protest Senator McCain, rather I'm looking forward to putting the next potential President on the spot to answer some tough questions, for example:

  1. How much money does the military spend in Iraq each month? And related to this, how much money is your GI Bill proposal saving over the next 10 years compared to the one sponsored by Senator Jim Webb and Chuck Hagel?  (correct answer should be approx $15B and $15B)
  1. The Bush Administration has done several things that have disappointed me greatly. What do you think are the three biggest failures of the Bush Administration?
  1. You voted to authorize the war in Iraq in 2003. Do you think that was the correct decision?  Would you vote the same way today?
  1. Do you believe in trickle down economics and if so what is your proof that it is a successful model for distributing wealth downward?
  1. I think intellect is important in a President. I'm pretty smart, but I think the President should be really smart.  You graduated in the lowest 1% of your naval academy class. Why do you think that was?  What should you have done better there?
