CNN: Obama and a White Woman?
Sun Jun 29, 2008 at 11:35:15 AM PDT
Barack Obama and Scarlett Johansann? Could it be? Could the black star secretly be trying to land the hot young white movie star? Well, the National Inquirer CNN is all over it.
Here the video link, which is also on the front page of CNN right now (despite the fact that our country is fighting two wars): UPDATE: I'm taking down the link but you can goto CNN if you want to see it. it's on the damn front page in 2 places now.
Here's some quotes from the story, not so subtly entitled, "Is Scarlett New Obama Girl?" (emphasis is not mine)
"He's always on that blackberry..."
"What in the world could Scarlett Johansann and Barack Obama have in common? What could they be talking about?
"Johansann has long made clear her confidence in Obama. She almost gushes in this YouTube video.
"Not nearly enough yet to become an unexpected campaign problem."
Watching David Mattingly's minor league smear job a few times, it's clear that the text by itself from Mattingly is not all that damning. However, his bizarre emphasis and ominous tone of voice throughout the segment is more than obviously intentional.
Then add in the framing of the story around the gentleman who was interviewed using words like "titillating", and a joke from David Letterman (in a CNN story) and you get a good feeling for where CNN is trying to go with this: Black man trying to land white movie star? Hmmmm. Well, not exactly...(yet). But we'll keep an eye on it for you.
It's clear to me that the corporate cable media is going out of their way to make this a competitive election. And they have a lot of work to do. CNN can go fuck themselves running a story like this though. They can seriously go fuck themselves.
Do I have this wrong?
